Background and History
Greetings! I'm Colin Womack, a Tampa, FL native with a passion for animation. I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Game Art & Design from the Art Institute of Tampa, where I initially focused on 3D animation. My interests evolved over time to encompass both 2D and 3D animation, and I'm now experienced with a range of software.
Throughout my career, I've had the pleasure of working for a small web/mobile game company, where I've gained valuable experience in both animation and programming. Starting as a Flash animator for a web game called MechQuest, I eventually honed my programming skills and was promoted to Game Lead, managing a small team to ramp down the game at the end of its life.
As the company transitioned to Unity, I returned to 3D animation and further developed my programming expertise in C#. This knowledge has proven invaluable in enabling me to assist programming teams with the animation pipeline and to develop custom tools for complex effects involving character and particle system animations.
In my work, I'm no stranger to problem-solving. Whether it's minimizing draw calls by combining multiple characters into a single game object, in Motionbuilder, creating state machines for complex animation systems, or programming my own tools to streamline workflows, I'm always on the lookout for innovative solutions.
As much as I've accomplished in my career thus far, I know that there is always room to grow and improve. I'm always open to working with a creative team that shares my passion for animation so we can challenge and inspire each other to achieve even greater things. Whether it's developing innovative animation techniques, exploring new software playforms, or collaborating with like-minded colleagues, I'm eager to push the boundaries of what's possible in the future.
